What does ITTO mean?

In project management, ITTO - Inputs, Tools, Techniques, and Outputs-is a framework with four basic components that helps you identify the resources needed to complete a task or deliverable. There will always be some uncertainty when managing a project. However, by using ITTO you can minimize the uncertainty and increase your chances of success.

Understanding why project managers use ITTO, is key to determining which tools and techniques are most effective for managing any given project. ITTO provides you with a framework for thinking about and organizing all of the different elements of a project.

In this article, we explore the second and third components of ITTO, Tools and Techniques. Learn more here about the Inputs (link first blog about Inputs here) and Outputs. (link third blog about Outputs here)

What are the Tools and Techniques in ITTO?
Tool is a tangible item such as template or software. For example, the Project Management Information system is a tool. Technique refers to a defined systematic procedure such as brainstorming. We’ve included a few tables below to familiarize you with how to apply Tools and Techniques to a variety of project management knowledge areas. These tables can make it easy for you to learn the processes in each knowledge area and the relationships between the ITTOs and the processes.

Our Illustrated Guides to ITTO (Tables, Videos, Animation, Questions)

Typically used in conjunction with visuals tools such as tables, videos, animation, ITTO can help create a more detailed picture of the project and help identify any potential risks or issues that may arise. Here at Visual PMP Academy we illustrate these relationships with visual tools you can access below such as different categories of tables, videos, animation (link here any available and applicable tables, videos and animation?) and questions to enhance your learning and understanding of the ITTO framework and how it can be used to better manage projects and ensure their success.
